Over the first half of 2025, we’ve been hard at work delivering exciting advancements to Trados, centered around three key areas: management, collaboration, and productivity. These enhancements are designed to provide you with the tools and features that matter most.
To help you stay up to date, we’ve rounded up the most important innovations from H1. For a chance to see these updates in action, make sure to watch our quarterly round up webinar.
Speed up translation and project management processes with new productivity features
Instant answers with Smart Insight: Smart Insights gives project managers instant access to real-time, contextual information about their projects using simple, natural language – no digging through reports or waiting on custom ones.
When linguists call in sick, clients ask about timelines, or managers need updates, having fast, accurate information is critical. With LLM-powered intelligence, Smart Insights taps directly into Trados data, helping project managers stay productive.
Instead of navigating to find a report or waiting on other teams create a new report, users can simply ask Smart Insights questions like:
- How many projects are due this week?
- Which active projects have Translation tasks assigned to [Linguist]?
- How many Customer Review tasks are overdue?
Smart Insights helps project managers solve problems faster, reduce surprises, and make better decisions – keeping translation projects on track. With real-time project intelligence now built into Trados, the answers you need are always at your fingertips.

Online editor enhancements: We've made significant enhancements to the online editor over the past few months, aimed at improving usability, performance, and productivity.
You can now open multiple files in the online editor - an especially valuable update for translators and reviewers working on projects with many small files. This is increasingly common with content from CMS platforms, where fine-grained content structure is the norm.
Files can be opened together from your inbox, as long as they belong to the same project and share the same source and target languages.
With multiple files open, you can perform core editing operations - such as Find & Replace, auto-propagation, and QA checks - across all files at once. If you're using the real-time preview, it will dynamically update as you move between files, maintaining continuity.
There have also been dozens of other important updates to the online editor, including:
- Live video preview when localizing subtitle files
- Bulk confirmation of unconfirmed segments when completing a task
- A new user setting to overwrite segments if a better match is found
- Improved support for large documents
- Enhanced filters for repeated and propagated segments, especially in multi-document scenarios
...and many more.

From setup to reporting, streamline every stage of your project with enhanced translation collaboration
Vendor management improvements: Trados streamlines vendor management, communication and workflows, promoting efficient collaboration and reducing miscommunication. A centralized vendor database and automatic quoting based on project templates help simplify the process.
Latest pricing & vendor updates include:
- Service-based project costs - in addition to language-based costs, you can now define project costs based on service type within vendor pricing models.
- Ad-hoc cost type - add fixed costs unrelated to variables like word count directly in pricing models or during quote reviews.
- CSV export for orders - vendors can now export their orders as *.Csv files for invoicing or record-keeping.
- Vendor quote templates - apply customizable templates to vendor quotes, including your logo and selected content. Sample templates are available in the trados community.

Custom reporting updates: In addition to Smart Insights for quick, scenario-based queries and ad-hoc analysis, and built-in reports for tracking key metrics like quality, cost, savings, and turnaround time, custom reporting lets users build detailed, reusable dashboards. These dashboards provide deeper insights using data such as project scope, translation memory leverage, and edit distance—all within a single platform. This enables smarter decisions, more efficient workflows, and better budget optimization.
We’re continuously improving custom reporting based on user feedback. Recent updates include:
- Image support in reports - Authors can now upload images directly from their desktop to QuickSight - ideal for adding logos, backgrounds, and story covers. Images support tooltips, alt text for accessibility, and interactive features like clickable links or dashboard actions.
- Font customization for visuals - Customize fonts for Table and Pivot visuals, and titles, subtitles, and legends in other visuals. Choose font size, family, color, and styles (bold, italics, underline) to align with your branding and improve readability.
- Restricted dashboard folders - Control dashboard visibility more precisely. Dashboards can now be moved to either a “General” or “Restricted” folder after publishing, allowing better access management.
- Visual importing - Authors can now import visuals from other dashboards or analyses, saving time and boosting consistency when creating new reports.
Improved automation and flexibility with new translation management functionality
Bring your own LLM with Connected AI: The AI Essentials add-on simplify the integration of AI into translation workflows, combining two powerful capabilities - Generative Translation and Smart Review - to improve translation quality, accelerate time-to-market, and reduce costs.
Although no separate Large Language Model (LLM) subscription is required for AI Essentials, we’ve now introduced Connected AI, which enables users to configure their own LLMs directly from the Manage Account area if they choose. This means you can now connect your Azure OpenAI models natively in Trados for use in Generative Translation and Smart Review - no need to coordinate setup with RWS.
While only Azure OpenAI models are currently supported, we’re actively exploring support for other LLMs available via Azure AI Foundry, including DeepSeek, LLaMA, and HuggingFace. With Connected AI, users gain greater flexibility and control over how AI is used in Trados - delivering smarter, faster, and more customizable workflows.

Workflow automation made easier: Improving the localization workflow is at the heart of Trados. Our Workflow Editor empowers users to save time and boost efficiency by making it easy to customize and automate processes that fit their exact needs. As part of our ongoing investment in workflow functionality, we’ve introduced several new enhancements designed to improve usability:
- In addition to the familiar horizontal Phases View, we’ve added a new List View that displays workflow tasks and phases vertically. This alternative layout offers greater flexibility for users who prefer a linear, top-down visualization of their workflows.
- We’ve also expanded the capabilities of the Engineering task, making it easier to handle complex file preparation in multi-step projects. This enhancement can be enabled via configuration within custom workflow templates, providing greater control over engineering-related steps.
- Lastly, we've added more granular control over machine translation (MT) usage. You can now configure your Translation Engines to apply MT during workflow execution, interactively in the online editor, or both - giving you more precise control over how and when MT is used in your localization process.
