The University of Innsbruck, founded in 1669, is a leading Austrian research university with a strong international profile. Its Department of Translation Studies offers BA and MA programs in translation and interpreting, providing students with a solid foundation in multilingual communication, linguistic theory, and translation technology.

Language combinations include German paired with English, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian. The department places particular emphasis on integrating current industry practices into its curriculum. Students receive hands-on training in computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, terminology management, machine translation and genAI.

As part of this commitment, the department incorporates Trados Studio and Trados Team into teaching and classroom work, ensuring students are proficient in industry-standard tools. The department also actively participates in national and international research projects, with a focus on translation processes, cognitive approaches, and the role of technology in professional translation.
