About us:

Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski," established in 1888, is the oldest and most prestigious higher education institution in Bulgaria. The university offers a diverse range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes across its 16 faculties, including humanities, sciences, law, medicine, and engineering.

Sofia University’s Master's programme in Translation is jointly organised by the Department of English and American Studies and the Department of Romance Studies within the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology. The programme is designed to provide comprehensive professional training for aspiring translators, covering both core and specialised areas of translation. While its primary focus is on preparing students for careers in translation, the degree also offers opportunities to develop foundational skills in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting.

Since 2009, the programme has been a certified member of the EMT (European Master's in Translation) network. With its rigorous curriculum and expert faculty, the course equips graduates with the practical and theoretical knowledge needed to excel in the dynamic field of translation and interpreting.
