Happy International Translation Day 2018
Originally set up in 1953 by the International Federation of Translators, this annual celebration got the recognition it so rightly deserves on May 24, 2017, when the United Nations General Assembly officially declared September 30 as International Translation Day.
Did you know International Translation Day itself also coincides with the feast day of St. Jerome, the patron saint of translators? As a Christian scholar and priest in the first century, Jerome managed to do something quite remarkable, in being the first person to translate the Bible into Latin from the original Hebrew, making it accessible for the first time to a far wider audience.
Across the world today, there are over 333,000 translators and each and every one of you do an amazing job. From everyone in the SDL Trados team, we want to say a big thank you to everyone working across the translation supply chain – today is a day of celebration and we hope you all enjoy it!
