What is AI Assistant in Trados Studio?
AI Assistant brings artificial intelligence (AI) functionality to all Trados Studio users.
By combining the power of a large language model (LLM) with your terminology, translation memories and preferred machine translation providers, AI Assistant provides more accurate and context-aware translations. This is often referred to as generative translation where generative AI augments translations to make you more productive and accurate in your translation work.
Key capabilities provided by AI Assistant include:
- Seamless integration into Studio, with flexible use as either a translation companion or provider, supporting both interactive translation and batch translation workflows
- Fully customizable prompts to fine-tune translation and review suggestions
- Terminology awareness to augment traditional machine translation with approved terminology
- Choice between support for tags and formatting or plain-text mode
To use AI Assistant in Studio, you require a paid OpenAI or Azure OpenAI subscription. As part of your subscription, you will get what is referred to as an API key that you can use to connect Studio with the LLM. Learn more about the OpenAI platform at Overview - OpenAI API.
