Empowering Every Translator: Our Commitment to Inclusivity and Accessibility

At RWS, we are excited to announce a pioneering initiative that aligns with the RWS Foundation's mission and the principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). We are dedicated to transforming the translation industry by making our flagship computer-assisted translation (CAT) software, Trados Studio, accessible to visually impaired translators.

This project is not just about technological advancement; it's about breaking down barriers and fostering an inclusive environment where visually impaired professionals can fully harness their translation skills. By enhancing Trados Studio's accessibility, we aim to open new horizons for visually impaired translators, allowing them to work independently, efficiently, and on an equal footing with their peers.

In line with our commitment to sustainability and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, this initiative is a step towards ensuring inclusive and equitable work opportunities. Our goal is to create a translation tool that not only meets professional standards but also embodies our ethos of inclusivity and diversity for all.

Moreover, we are committed to ensuring that this enhanced version of Trados Studio is affordable for all blind translators. We believe that economic barriers should not impede professional growth and career development in the field of translation.  You can learn more about this in the RWS blog, “Breaking barriers: Introducing RWS's journey towards inclusivity”.

We are reaching out to the blind translation community to invite you to be a part of this groundbreaking journey. Your insights and experiences are invaluable to us. We would love for you to participate in the Beta testing of the accessible version of Trados Studio, currently scheduled to be available within the next month. This is not only a chance to contribute to a significant advancement in translation technology but also an opportunity to shape a tool that is tailor-made for your needs.

We want to hear from you! Your feedback, suggestions, and participation are crucial to the success of this project. Please fill out the form below to express your interest in participating in our Beta program or to share your thoughts and suggestions. Together, we can make the world of translation more accessible, inclusive, and diverse.
