We’re excited to announce the upcoming Trados Studio 2026 Release, a launch that represents an evolution to the core translation experience, within the trusted environment known to thousands of translators. It’s been built with a laser-like focus on what matters most: creating a workspace that is more fluid, intelligent, and genuinely enjoyable to use. It's a quantum leap in productivity and performance, designed to address the real-world challenges faced by every professional in the translation supply chain.
Unprecedented performance
Imagine a workspace where performance bottlenecks are a thing of the past. No more frustrating lag when opening large files, no more slowdowns on complex projects, and no more "out of memory" errors. Studio 2026 Release will make this a reality by migrating to a native 64-bit architecture, the single most requested feature from the RWS Community. By unlocking the full power of modern hardware, Studio will be able to access virtually unlimited system memory.
This change will bring unparalleled robustness. In early tests, Studio 2026 Release has successfully processed 1.5GB PowerPoint files that previously caused crashes, allowing teams to tackle massive, multi-file projects with total confidence. The difference will also be felt in every click with files opening instantaneously.
Master terminology with precision and power
Terminology is the bedrock of quality translation, the key to protecting a corporate brand voice, a value proposition for LSPs, and a mark of true professionalism for freelance professionals. Studio 2026 Release will refine the entire terminology workflow, making it more powerful and intuitive. We will be introducing Trados Termbase (.TTB), a new, modernized local termbase format built for more accurate and reliable term recognition.
These enhancements will make it effortless for freelance translators to maintain project-specific terminology. For corporations and LSPs, the improvements will scale across server and cloud environments. A new REST API for terminology will enable deeper, more flexible integrations with your business systems, while an enhanced workflow for adding terms and smarter handling of forbidden terms will remove collaborative barriers for large, distributed teams working in the cloud.
Experience contextual AI
True efficiency in translation comes from context. Studio 2026 Release will take a significant step forward with AI that considers document-level context, moving beyond simple segment-by-segment suggestions. For the first time, you can set the scope of context for a given batch, narrowing or broadening it to preserve the meaning, intent, and nuance of your source content before AI touches a single segment. Trados's translation memory and terminology infrastructure acts as the guardrail, grounding every AI suggestion in your approved language so your initial draft stays consistent and prevents hallucinations, whatever model you are running.
And this is just the foundation. New Connected AI add-ons are on the way that will unlock a level of AI capability inside Studio that will make every translation more fluent, so your content connects with every audience it was written for. Bring the model you already trust, or discover our very own LLM through Language Weaver Pro, built on 40 years of language intelligence. We will have more to share very soon. Stay close.
Enjoy a more modern user experience
A tool should adapt to its user, not the other way around. This release will introduce several enhancements born directly from community feedback, all aimed at improving your daily interaction with Studio. Perhaps the most anticipated is the new Dark Theme (Beta), available through Studio’s support of Windows 11 high contrast themes, helping to reduce eye strain during long sessions. Created in response to a top 10 idea from the RWS Community, this high-contrast theme will reduce eye strain and improve comfort during long work sessions. Alongside this, a simplified, subscription-friendly licensing system and modernized comment handling will further streamline your workflow, removing small frictions that add up over the workday.
The Trados Studio 2026 Release is a direct response to the needs of modern translation professionals. To learn more about the upcoming launch of Trados Studio 2026 Release, take a look at our webpage.
