Looking Back On Our Spring 2015 SDL Roadshows

The translation industry often feels like the ‘unsung hero’ in a world where globalization has made communication across borders so important and the amount of content now created that also needs translation. We see translation as an art form and it is why we enjoy meeting every single one of you at our roadshows.

Network, Network, Network

Whilst the world of translation is an exciting industry to be a part of, freelance translators can sometimes feel a little isolated working from home and only interacting with clients via email and phone. By attending one of our many roadshows worldwide, you all have the opportunity to meet your peers and clients face-to-face, as well as the team behind SDL… I believe there is no substitute for that.

We have enjoyed speaking and getting to know you all personally at our SDL Roadshows and the comments we have received from you is very encouraging. When I talk about feedback I’m not necessarily referring to product specific information, but more about how excited you all were about the day itself. It was fantastic to hear how our sessions motivated you to go away and try out new tips and tricks to boost your productivity using SDL Trados Studio.

One great piece of feedback that stood out for me during the roadshows I attended was regarding networking opportunities. I remember one lady in particular who was attending her first event, a little unsure about what to expect and was delighted to meet clients she had only spoken to on the phone before. Networking was a key focus for our roadshows this year and it was great to see so many of you interacting with new and existing contacts and clients.

Our roadshow events wouldn’t have been possible without our dedicated events team and our Events and Marketing Support Manager, Simone Phillips, was over the moon at the feedback we have received to date. She added “I’m so overwhelmed by the positive feedback we received via email and through #SDLroadshow on Twitter! Even two of our attendees from different events wrote about their experience on their personal blogs. I am very happy to have been part of the team in delivering such a great event where new features and benefits of Studio 2015 were shared plus other great content that was delivered to our attendees."

To wrap things up I’d like to say a massive thank you to each and every one of you who attended our roadshows and interacted with us on Twitter via #SDLroadshow. I look forward to seeing you all once again at our next set of roadshows.
